My Why: People, Places & Photography
Choosing a photographer for your personal brand, creative business or your most meaningful projects isn't always easy.
I know, because I've trawled photography websites for my own wedding, family portraits and business branding. Finding a kind, friendly photographer with a natural, elegant style I genuinely love has been quite the challenge!
(Fun fact: every photo you see of me on this website is either a self-portrait on timer or taken by my very patient husband Jon, with all the camera settings and composition carefully prepared for him.)
If you're unsure what to look for in a photographer, I think it's best to go back to basics:

How I Fell in Love with Photography
I was originally a landscape architect, and in 2010 I returned home from a wonderful holiday to the USA.
I'd fallen in love with San Francisco and was eager to print one of my travel photographs for my wall. Sadly, my happy snaps didn't quite do the holiday justice!
(I also couldn't find an artwork of the city I'd left my heart in, but that's another story. You can explore my travel-inspired artworks here.)
I made a vow to myself: never again would I travel overseas without a way to document the true, natural beauty I saw in the world.
I was determined to figure out how to make the visions and compositions in my mind align with what I captured through my lens.
So I bought my first DSLR camera, started learning manual photography and never looked back!
Photographing People in Places That Tell Their Stories
Travelling and being in nature are two of my favourite things in the world.
I love photographing people and places together (my family and friends now benefit from extremely beautiful holiday photographs!).
The connection between people and landscapes fascinates me. How each one shapes the other, and how the places we love can bring out the very best in us.
Being in nature brings out our childlike joy, our sense of belonging, connection and freedom. Being in our favourite spaces, the ones that are part of our story or make us feel safe, allow us to shine brightest.
That's the beauty I love to capture.

As a business owner and a true collaborator at heart, I know how much courage, determination and love goes into building something of your own.
